The cast will consist of David Anzuelo, Rosa Arredondo, Russell G. Jones, Elizabeth Ramos, Diana Oh and Eden Marryshow. The production will be directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt.
Núñez's play is being mentored by Rajiv Joseph, the Pulitzer-nominated playwright of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo and Animals Out of Paper.
In addition to Joseph, Katori Hall and Sheila Callaghan will guide early-career playwrights this spring as part of the 2016 Mentor Project. The Cherry Lane Theatre is at 38 Commerce St. in New York's Greenwich Village.
Each year the theatre pairs a young playwright with a celebrated professional for a season of script work, rewrites, casting, rehearsals and a full production at Cherry Lane.
The three established playwrights were mentored at the Cherry Lane earlier on in their careers. Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) was mentored in 2005 by Theresa Rebeck, while Hall (The Mountaintop) was mentored by Lynn Nottage in 2006, and Callaghan (Lascivious Something) was mentored by Michael Weller in 2006.
Callaghan will mentor Sarah Einspanier, whose play The Convent of Pleasure runs March 23-April 2. Hall will mentor Antoinette Nwandu and her play Pass Over, which will be performed April 13-23. All productions are staged at Cherry Lane Theatre's Studio Theatre.
Tickets cost $19 apiece. A festival pass to all three Mentor Project plays can be purchased for $48. For additional information and reservations visit CherryLaneTheatre.org or call Ovation Tix at (866) 811-4111.
