The Café Carlyle spring 2017 season will feature the intimate venue's debuts of actor/singer John O'Hurley, classical crossover star Jackie Evancho, and singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb; as well as the return of John Pizzarelli.
Seinfeld star O’Hurley, who made his Broadway debut as slick lawyer Billy Flynn in the long-running Chicago, will make his Café Carlyle bow March 28–April 8 with an evening entitled A Man With Standards. This 90-minute retrospective on the songs of the Great American Songbook also includes O’Hurley's musings from his life and career.
Acclaimed 16-year-old singer Jackie Evancho, who recently performed at the presidential inauguration, will follow, playing the nightspot April 11-22.
John Pizzarelli, seen on Broadway in the musical revue Dream, will return to the Carlyle April 25 with an all-new show paying tribute to singer-songwriter Johnny Mercer, whose work was also celebrated in the aforementioned Dream. Pizzarelli’s engagement, which continues through May 6, will feature Mercer classics as well as such lesser-known gems such as “Jamboree Jones” and “Slue Foot.”
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb is scheduled to make her Carlyle debut June 6-17. Loeb's career launched with the platinum-selling hit song “Stay (I Missed You)” from the film Reality Bites. That was followed by the hit singles “Do You Sleep,” “I Do,” and “Let’s Forget About It” and the albums Cake and Pie and No Fairy Tale.
Throughout the season, Woody Allen will continue to perform Monday nights with the Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band.
Additional spring performers will be announced shortly.
