Brooklyn's TKTS Booth Shutters | Playbill

Industry News Brooklyn's TKTS Booth Shutters The downtown Brooklyn location in MetroTech Center has closed up shop

TKTS patrons will have to make do with Manhattan's three locations after the Brooklyn booth closed September 1.

Originally opened in 2008 by TDF, the MetroTech Center location never did the business of the booths in Manhattan selling same-day tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, and lagging ticket sales resulted in the quiet closure.

"In the past year, ticket sales have declined to where it wasn’t feasible for TDF, a not-for-profit service organization, to maintain an outlet at this location," says TDF spokesperson David LeShay. "In addition to the main TKTS Booth in Times Square there are two other satellite TKTS Discount Boths at South Street Seaport and the newest in Lincoln Center, which continues to become increasingly popular serving thousands of theatregoers on a budget each week."

In addition to the TKTS booths, TDF also operates school, access, and community programs to make the power of the arts available to everyone.
