Broadway's Kimberly Akimbo will embark on a North American national tour, launching in September 2024 at Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The Jeanine Tesori-David Lindsay-Abaire musical will then travel to 60 cities over 75 weeks, with dates and venues to be announced, along with casting. The musical's Broadway run continues at the Booth Theatre.
"Kimberly Akimbo is the kind of Broadway musical our audiences love—smart, contemporary musical theatre with lots of laughs and an original, heartfelt story," says John Ekeberg, executive director of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Broadway and cabaret divisions in a statement. "We know Denver audiences will embrace the show as much as New York has, and we’re beyond excited to kick off the great adventure of Kimberly’s national tour for audiences across the country."
With music by Tesori and a book and lyrics by Lindsay-Abaire adapted from his play, Kimberly Akimbo follows Kimberly, a bright New Jersey teenager with an aging disease that makes her look like a 72-year-old lady.
