Porter was on the team mentored by Christina Aguilera, who is the first female coach to lead one of her contestants to victory on the show. Porter competed for viewers' votes in the finals against runners-up Adam Wakefield from Team Blake, Laith Al-Saadi from Team Adam and Hannah Huston from Team Pharrell.
Porter, who starred in the title role of John Hughes’ 1991 movie Curly Sue, was also seen on Broadway as Bebe in the 2006 revival of A Chorus Line. The role of Bebe is one of three highlighted in the song “At the Ballet.”
