Bobby Conte Thornton, who made his 2016 Broadway debut in A Bronx Tale The Musical, has joined Tony Award winner Beth Leavel in an upcoming industry reading of Matthew Lombardo’s new comedy Conversations With Mother.

Noah Himmelstein (I Am Harvey Milk) will direct the semi-autobiographical play based on Lombardo’s relationship with his own mother. Leavel will play Maria Collavechio, with Thornton as her son.

The two-hander traces the relationship between an Italian-American mother and her son over the course of five decades.

Lombardo’s Broadway-aimed Tea at Five, starring Oscar winner Faye Dunaway as Katharine Hepburn, recently concluded its Boston try-out with future New York plans to be announced. His plays also include Looped, High, and Who's Holiday!
