The New York-based Blue Hill Troupe, the city’s only musical theatre troupe dedicated to donating all proceeds to charity, will stage Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera Iolanthe this spring.

Performances of the fairy-tale-inspired story will run April 8-16 at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio in Manhattan, with direction by Gary Slavin. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation.

The cast will include Kelsey Peters, Suzanne R. Taylor, Matt Hughes, Scott R. Smith, Erik Hanson, Sarah Moulton Faux, David Loewy, Heather Denny, Jessica Meese, Nancy Blagman, Samuel Silvers, Sydney Ransom, Jane Brendler Büchi, Rich Miller, Win Rutherfurd, William Remmers, Denise Crawfort, Chazmond J. Peacock, Julia Farina, Reanna Flemons, Allison Prince and Michael Adelstein. Musical direction will be by Zachary Schwartzman.

Here’s how the Blue Hill Troupe bills the satirical work by Gilbert and Sullivan: “Twenty five years after being banished for marrying a mortal, the fairy Iolanthe returns, seeking protection for her son, who is half-fairy and half-mortal. Her Queen grants him a title in the House of Lords, but when he falls in love with the fetching young ward of the Lord Chancellor, Fairyland and Parliament nearly fall to pieces.“

Tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/Iolanthe2016 or by calling (212) 988-2012. El Teatro of El Museo del Barriois is located at 1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street, Manhattan.
