Olivier-winning Harry Potter stage star Anthony Boyle has joined the cast of the upcoming West End revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night as Edmund Tyrone, replacing the previously announced Alex Lawther due to a scheduling conflict.

Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the production is due to begin performances at the Wyndham's Theatre March 19, 2024, ahead of an April 2 opening night.

Boyle joins a cast that includes Emmy winner Brian Cox as James Tyrone, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Patricia Clarkson as Mary Tyrone, BAFTA nominee Daryl McCormack as James Jr., and Louisa Harland as Cathleen. Casting is by Jessica Ronane.

Also newly announced for the upcoming run are designer Lizzie Clachan, sound designer Tom Gibbons, lighting designer Jack Knowles, and movement director Polly Bennett.

O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play chronicles a day in the life of a dysfunctional family: the Tyrones. Widely considered to be O'Neill's magnum opus, the play is closely based on his own family and experiences growing up, and was published posthumously in 1956.

The production will offer a total of 50 tickets at £25 for every performance, in addition to regularly priced tickets.
