Andy Mientus’ Ladies of the Canyon concert, filmed last year at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania, will stream on the Stellar platform March 18-April 1.
Celebrating Joni Mitchell’s 1970 album of the same name, Ladies of the Canyon features Mientus, Tony winner Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Christy Altomare (Anastasia), Krista Pioppi (Spring Awakening), and Cathy Ang (And Just Like That). Tony nominee Michael Arden directed with musical direction by Benjamin Rauhala. Justin Goldner is featured on guitar.
The concert features such Mitchell tunes as “Big Yellow Taxi,” “Woodstock,” and “The Circle Game.”
The Playhouse has added an online viewing party—hosted by Mientus—March 19 at 8 PM. The Spring Awakening star will answer questions live and chat with fans as the film streams. (The February 13 in-person Q&A and release celebration at the Playhouse has been postponed. Patrons with tickets to the previously scheduled streaming release will be issued new tickets.)
“We love this film so much and are so proud of the work that Andy Mientus, Michael Arden, and the extraordinary cast have created. With such a small release window, we wanted to have more time to get the word out to fans across the country and around the globe,” says Bucks County Executive Producer Robyn Goodman. “We have postponed a live event to focus all our energies on the streaming release. This beautiful music raised all our spirits in the midst of the pandemic.”
The filmed concert was produced by Alexander Fraser, Goodman, and Josh Fiedler. Ethan Noble served as video producer with lighting design by Adam Honoré. The music producer was Jackson Teeley with Anna Louizos as the design consultant. The film was stage managed by Justin Scribner.
