In her first Broadway role following her Tony-winning success in Tina: The Tina Turner MusicalAdrienne Warren will star in Emma Donoghue's Room at the James Earl Jones Theatre this April. Performances will begin April 3, with opening night set for April 17. The limited engagement will continue through September 17.

Based on Donoghue's 2010 best-selling novel of the same name, Room follows a kidnapped mother who has been trapped in a room for seven years, and her six year old son Jack, who has never known the outside world. The work was previously adapted for the screen in 2015, with Donoghue also adapting that iteration. This adaptation features songs and music by Bisset and fellow Scottish singer-songwriter Kathryn Joseph.

“I am truly honored for the opportunity to return to Broadway in a project unlike anything I’ve done before,” says Warren in a statement. “There were many reasons I wanted to join this team in telling this story, but most importantly, I wanted to share this beautifully human bond between a mother and her son. This is for all the little Jack’s out there determined to hold on to their sense of joy and wonder and all the Mas out there doing their absolute best to live, love, and protect through it all.”

Cora Bissett will direct after staging the 2017 world premiere, with set and costume design by Lily Arnold and projection design by Andrzej Goulding.  Additional casting and creative team members are to be announced.

The work premiered in 2017 at Theatre Royal Stratford East in London, and transferred to the Abbey Theatre in Dublin last year. The play made its North American premiere in London, Ontario in 2022 after a planned 2020 run was cancelled due to COVID-19. That production later transferred to Toronto, playing its final performance May 8, 2022.

Room will be produced on Broadway by Sam Julyan, James Yeoburn, ShowTown Productions, and Hunter Arnold. ShowTown Productions is also serving as general managers.
