Daniel Sullivan directs and John Lithgow, Annette Benning, Steven Boyer and Jessica Hecht head the cast in in the Public Theater's production of King Lear, widely regarded as Shakespeare's greatest tragedy. Lithgow plays a king who descends into madness after he unjustly disowns his most loving daughter and his two other deceitful daughters inherit his kingdom. Performances run through Aug. 17 at Central Park's Delacorte Theater. Admission is free through a Virtual Ticketing lottery at shakespeareinthepark.org on the day of the show.
