Jenkins, born Muguette Mary Jenkins in Cheshire, won the Clarence Derwent Award, a major British theatre prize of the time, for best supporting work (playing the wife) in Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge in 1956.
She also performed in London in Tennessee Williams' Summer and Smoke, Emlyn Williams' Light of Heart and The Wind of Heaven, among many other stage roles.
The matronly actress also appeared in the British TV series "All Creatures Great and Small," "Young at Heart" with John Mills and in such films as "The Innocents" and (as the maid) "Indiscreet."
