Position Summary:

L’Alliance New York is seeking friendly and resourceful people to join its events team. Events range from simple screenings in L’Alliance New York’s 361-seat theater to multi-room conferences and catered receptions. Event staff ushers or caters, depending on events, and is the public face of L’Alliance New York for our audiences and rental clients. Kindness, professionalism, and a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment are of utmost importance for our events staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a friendly, comfortable, and safe atmosphere at L’Alliance New York events.
  • Facilitate audience flow through an event (entry, seating, departure), including answering questions about L’Alliance New York policies (no eating in the theater, for example) and directing audiences to venues within L’Alliance New York’s building.
  • Scanning tickets, seating folks when seats are assigned, and troubleshooting any seating complications that may occur.
  • Catering, including passing hors d’oeuvres, bar tending, and bussing at receptions and dinners.
  • Simple setup of facilities, including tables, chairs, stanchions, and signage.
  • Simple cleaning of event department’s supplies, including the return of chairs and tables to their closets, pulling inside any signage or stanchions used on the sidewalk and leaving the kitchen clean after catered events.
  • Stay in communication with head usher/caterer, as well as with the technical and maintenance departments should anything require their attention.
  • Ensure that facilities are clean and clear should an emergency arise. This includes making sure that all aisles are clear, and all doorways are unobstructed.
  • Problem-solving complaints and emergencies, including medical emergencies (calling 911, collecting information, etc.).
  • Ensuring compliance with L’Alliance New York’s Covid Safety Protocols, including checking for proof of vaccination as needed.

Please note that the above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your role within the organization and the overall business objectives of L’Alliance New York.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Advanced customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for conversing with clients, guests, and employees.
  • Understanding of safe food handling policies and procedures.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Salary/Benefits :

· Pay is $19.00 per hour with a 4-hour shift minimum.

· Reimbursed cab rides home for shifts that begin at 6 am and end after 11 pm.
