DESCRIPTION

Last Hand: An AC Murder Mystery is set to premier at The Celebrity Theatre In Atlantic City, NJ on June 21 as part of the 2024 North2Shore Festival.

Jones, an Atlantic City blackjack dealer, is a murder suspect along with everyone else playing at the Starlight Room. He and Angie, the cocktail waitress, are trying to solve the murder before Officer Lovejoy throws one of the wrong suspects in jail. Between the drunk bachelorette and the crazy magician, everyone looks guilty. Can you trust the bartender or even grandma? How much are you willing to bet Officer Lovejoy will arrest the real killer?

Please submit your headshot, resume, availabilty on Monday/Tuesday nights starting May 13-June 21, ability to travel to and from Atlantic City, NJ and demo reel (if applicable).

Pays $200 travel stipend and provides lodging the night of the show at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ.

CHARACTERS:

J o n e s S m i t h - ( B l a c k ? M O C , 3 0 - 5 0 ’ s )

He is the main narrator throughout the play. He’s been flirting with Monique for years, and he finally got the nerve to ask her out. She said no. The next day he requested to be transferred to Las Vegas. He is waiting and ready to leave.

A n g i e - ( H i s p a n i c / I t a l i a n , W O C , 3 0 - 5 0 ’ s ) Cocktail waitress who knows everybody and everything. The maternal savior to everyone. She is brash and outspoken, and always there if you need her. She will spend time in the audience when not on stage.

K a i ( A s i a n , P O C 3 0 - 4 0 ’ s ) The hottest bartender that everybody wants. Known for his artful garnishing of drinks. He is into horse racing as his ticket to paradise.

C a e s a r P i c a n n a ( W h i t e , 4 0 - 6 0 ’ s ) The high strung casino owner. Wears a nice suit. In a foul mood because someone keyed his new Tesla, his fish died, on top of all that, he was dumped a week before his wedding. A jerk, most of the time. Planned the poker game to try to get his mojo back.

O f f i c e r M o n i q u e L o v e j o y ( W O C , 3 0 - 4 0 ’ s ) Takes her job very seriously, and doesn’t put up with any bullshit, but she does have a softer side. Turned down Jones’s request for a date. She had her reasons.

V a l e r i e W a r n e r - ( W h i t e F e m a l e , 2 0 ’ 3 0 ’ s ) - Very pretty girl in a slutty dress with a “Bride to Be” sash, tiara and veil. This is her bachelorette party. She's drunk and wants a final fling before the wedding (Which is tomorrow).

M i s t y L y n c h - ( F e m a l e , 3 0 ’ s ) - Valerie's maid of honor. She is dressed pretty yet conservatively (Like a sleeveless turtleneck and slacks). Pants must have a cuff. She has the daunting task of getting Valerie down the aisle with her virtue in tack. This is a paid gig. She is not a friend of Valerie’s.

C h a d t h e L a d ( V e r y W h i t e , 2 0 - 3 0 ’ s ) - Nerdy; he thinks he's a big deal rap star on YouTube; he isn't; his rapping skills are non-existent; he is a waste of time and space; must be able to beatbox or learn.

E u g e n i a T o o h y , a k a G r a n d m a ( O l d e r F e m a l e ) - (Younger actress encouraged to submit, will age with make up) She is cool, with a color streak in her all-white big hair. She is wearing a Juicy sweatsuit and a large fanny pack. Spunky and fun.

F r e d . ( M a l e 4 0 - 6 0 ’ s ) - Down on his luck and lost everything last week at the casino. He had won a ticket for the game but was too broke to join. After trying on a velvet jacket at the Salvation Army, he found an envelope with enough cash for the buy in for the game. He is here to win his life back.
