As a Technical Project Manager, Land your role is dynamic and requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for creating immersive and unforgettable experiences for our clients. As a Technical Director, you will be reporting to the Director, AV and Technical, and you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of projects from concept to completion. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including creative designers, engineers, fabricators, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the project team throughout the entire project life cycle
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Oversee the on-site and off-site implementation of assigned projects
  • Manage project budgets, review funds allocation for external resources, and coordinate budget modifications as needed
  • Provide initial cost ranges for preliminary design components
  • Collaborate with the Director, AV and Technical in developing and maintaining the project P&L
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external clients, ensuring effective communication and understanding of their vision and objectives
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including talent and recruitment, designers, technical directors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project integration
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in project delivery and implement proactive strategies for risk mitigation
  • Locate key suppliers, negotiating the company’s purchasing agreements, and making sure their materials and products meet the company’s specifications
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning, and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity.

Define roles and responsibilities of the team and determine clear deliverables

Responsible for the training and supervision of all staff to ensure proper adherence to all venue and company policies and procedures and to all Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations

Responsible for the management of seasonal employees onsite for the duration of the project/event and managing payroll.

Ensure artistic creative intent, character integrity, and intellectual property parameters are consistently

met

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Project Management, Construction, or similar experience in themed entertainment or experience field preferred

Proven experience as a Technical Director in themed entertainment or a similar industry

Proven experience in all areas of AV - Live and installation

Proven experience in sourcing and procurement for projects

History of Strong Project Management skills and leading teams onsite

Strong Budget management of small- and large-scale technical projects

Strong Client Relationship skills

Strong Technical abilities both verbally and written

Strong CAD / Vectorworks Skills

Programming and system design desirable

General Theatre / Theme Park Background desirable

Knowledge of Christmas Decor installations desirable

Understanding of basic carpentry and installation desirable

OSHA certified desirable

Proven track record in all project delivery phases from concept to implementation

Ability to manage budgets, resources, and timeline effectively

Work Environment: While on-site, frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or

working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters. Because of the time constraints of most of the department’s projects, the Technical Project Manager will often be on-site and need to work in hot/humid, cold/freezing, rain, and snow conditions to complete the job before the deadline. While in-office, there is a rare presence of abnormal variations in temperature and exposure to outside conditions.

Physical Effort: Minimal – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50- 75 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools. While on-site the Technical Project Manager frequently operates heavy equipment and heavy hand tools. Standing for long periods of time, but often kneeling, bending, working from my back and at heights well over 50 feet. While in-office, physical effort is light.

Hazards: Frequent existing or potential hazards. Moderate existing or potential hazards. In office, there is very little exposure to hazards. While on-site, there is regular exposure to: working at heights over 50 feet, working in and around heavy equipment, exposure to chemicals and regular use of cutting tools such as saws and grinders.
