DESCRIPTION

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey seeks experienced scenic carpenters and master carpenters for immediate hire. Must have experience with various scenic construction techniques and materials. Must have strong woodworking, welding, and rigging skills and be able to read construction plans. Applicants should also be capable of lifting 50 pounds and comfortable working at heights around 25 feet. Experience in electrics, painting, sewing, and pneumatic systems a plus. Ideal candidate is a self-motivated, safety conscious, team player with 2 years professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Position is seasonal.

Position available as early as September 30, 2024 – December 13, 2024.

Physical Demands:

· Must be comfortable using a variety of hand tools, stationary and portable power tools, and specialized equipment as found in a typical professional theatre.

· Position is sometimes required to stand, sit, or kneel for extended periods during regular work.

· Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined spaces.

· Must be comfortable working at heights up to 25 feet. Safety equipment and specific training will be provided.


Compensation:

Compensation for this position is $760/week - $1,080/week based on years of experience and skill sets. This position is eligible for overtime after 40 hours/week.
