Summary

The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center is seeking a motivated, ambitious, organized, outgoing, and dedicated performing arts professional to join the team at the Center as a part-time Production Assistant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Assistants will work very closely with the Technical Director/Operations Team at the Center to assist in various capacities including coordination of load-in, show and load-out details for touring local productions and private events. Also responsible for assisting Operations with daily building operations and functions necessary to operate and maintain the complex Duties include:

  • Serve as liaison between the backstage operation and the front of house staff, coordinating the opening of the house and the commencement and close of each performance;
  • Communicate with Company Manager and/or other appropriate production personnel as necessary when emergency situations arise;
  • Communicate and coordinate with front of house personnel on show requirements;
  • Prepare all settlement documents for night of show settlements;
  • Submit payroll in a timely manner to the payroll department;
  • Work with Staff Assistants to maintain union personnel files;
  • Protect the Theatre from damage by employees or traveling crews;
  • Ensure that safe practices are being followed by all personnel working the call;
  • Assist in various accounting duties;
  • Organize, scan, and file all financial settlements;
  • Coordinates the technical needs for future performances/events at the Theatre;
  • Cares for and maintains theatrical stage equipment;
  • Maintains sound and lighting equipment;
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma required. College degree and Live Theatre experience preferred;

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common articles, contracts, and financial reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

  • This position requires basic knowledge of budgeting and data entry. A solid understanding of basic accounting and spreadsheets is required.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.

SALARY
