DESCRIPTION

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

1. DIMA FILOSOFOV: Male identifying. Early 20s- mid 30s. Very strong vocalist AND actor. Good Dancer. Vocal part: Baritenor.

Dima Filosofov is an intelligent and gifted writer. He is loyal, loving, and thoughtful. He was the cousin and first lover of Diaghilev. Born into an aristocratic family in Imperial Russia, his mother was a prominent social activist. In the first part of his life he was dedicated, like Diaghilev, to the Decadent Movement – art for art’s sake without any social or ideological aims. As he matured and as Russia descended into social and political chaos, he became a serious social activist, eventually fleeing Russia to Warsaw where he worked to undermine the Bolshevik Revolution and Soviet Government.

2. YOUTH ONE: Male identifying. Early 20s- mid 30s. Strong Actor, dancer, AND vocalist. Vocal part: Tenor

Youth One must be a strong actor and dancer as well as a competent vocalist- able to carry a vocal part alone within an ensemble. Intermediate proficiency with piano is also desirable as he will be featured as the modernist composer Igor Markevich. Youth One will also play several smaller roles throughout.

3. YOUTH TWO: Male identifying. Early 20s- mid 30s. Very strong Dancer AND vocalist. Good Actor. Vocal part: Baritone

Youth Two features prominently as a dancer and vocalist throughout the concert, with several solos. He must be able to carry a vocal part alone within an ensemble. Youth Two will also play several smaller roles, including the dance phenom, Vaslav Nijinsky.
