DESCRIPTION

COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

Seeking a costume shop manager for the 2024 season at Theatre by the Sea in Matunuck RI.

Candidate must have good communication skills Good organizational skills Be good at time management Have strong sewing skills Have knowledge how to fit garments Have a knowledge of a variety of sewing machines

Responsibilities:
  • Read scripts and meet with directors
  • Organize costume packages in preparation for fittings
  • Schedule fittings with stage management
  • Conduct fittings
  • Instruct stitchers in alterations
  • Load costumes into theatre
  • Be present at all techs- get notes from directors, choreographers
  • Manage completion of notes during tech
  • Make purchases for show and shop needs
  • Keep to a budget and organize purchase receipts and returns
  • Manage a costume shop with a staff of stitchers and fitters
  • Get shop ready to open before season and get shop ready to close at end of season

Having a car is helpful as you will need to travel between the costume shop and theatre at times.
