According to Deadline, Frank Langella is set to star as Madame Rosepettle in a West Coast revival of Arthur Kopit’s Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma’s Hung You in the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad. The production is reportedly slated for next summer at La Jolla Playhouse.

According to Deadline, the revival is Broadway-bound, though a representative for La Jolla has not confirmed the news nor Langella’s casting. The role of Rosepettle was originated on Broadway in 1963 by Hermione Gingold, who starred in the farce alongside Saw Waterston and Alix Elias.

Kopit’s comedy is centered on an overbearing mother who brings her son and the body of her dead husband, in his coffin, to the Caribbean for a vacation.

The news follows the recent announcement from Roundabout Theatre Company that Langella will be honored with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre at its 2017 spring gala in February. The award culminates a successful year for the actor, which saw him win his fourth Tony Award for his starring role in The Father on Broadway. His acclaimed performance also garnered him his sixth Drama Desk Award and his fourth Outer Critics Circle Award.
