On August 16, The Today Show welcomed the cast of Off-Broadway’s Desperate Measures to perform a medley of three songs from the original musical.
Based on Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, the musical features a book and lyrics by Peter Kellogg and music by David Friedman. After premiering at The York Theatre Company, the show was nominated for the Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical. Desperate Measures won the Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Music for Friedman and Outstanding Lyrics for Kellogg.
The production has since transferred to Off-Broadway’s New World Stages, where it currently play an open-ended run. The cast features Anthony Festa, Celia Hottenstein, Gary Marachek, Lauren Molina, Sarah Parnicky, Conor Ryan, Peter Saide, Tom Souhrada, and Nick Wyman.
