The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, with over 3,700 shows. This year, Playbill is in town for the festival, and we’re taking you with us. Follow along as we cover every single aspect of the Fringe, aka our real-life Brigadoon!

One of the joys of covering the Fringe is seeing shows from all around the world. Playbill was able to get an up-close look at the intensely physical Afrique en Cirque, where gravity-defying stunts are performed to the beat of African drums, all created by artists from Guinea. Created by dancer and circus artist Yamoussa Bangoura, of Kalabanté Productions, Afrique en Cirque is inspired by daily life in Guinea. There, artists show off their strength, agility, and their ability to lift each other high up in the air, all set to a live score of Afro-jazz, percussion, and Kora.
