Tony winners Mandy Patinkin and André De Shields have joined the cast of NBC's Brilliant Minds.
Following the work of a larger-than-life neurologist (played by Broadway vet Zachary Quinto), Brilliant Minds is a medical drama inspired by the life of Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks', a brain disorder researcher who passed away in 2015.
Set to star in two episodes, Patinkin will play a family doctor who shakes up the staff's workplace methods after he joins Bronx General Hospital. De Shields', who will appear in one episode, will play an Alzheimer’s patient struggling to reconnect with his family outside of his end-of-life care facility.
In addition to Quinto, Brilliant Minds stars Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, and Donna Murphy. The show premieres September 23.
