News Tony Winner Lily Tomlin Will Be "Grandma" in Road Trip Comedy "Grandma," the road trip comedy film starring Lily Tomlin, has been purchased by Sony Classics, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written and co-produced by Paul Weitz, the movie's cast also includes Julia Garner ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "Martha Marcy May Marlene"), Tony Award winner Marcia Gay Harden, (Angels in America: Millennium Approaches, God of Carnage), Judy Greer (Dead Accounts, "Arrested Development"), Laverne Cox ("Orange is the New Black," "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce") and Sam Elliott ("Up in the Air," "Parks and Recreation"). The film, which The Hollywood Reporter states received high praise at Sundance Film Festival, follows one day in the life of the titular character as she and her granddaughter share secrets and memories during a long car ride.

Two-time Tony winner Tomlin has performed in The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. She wrote, directed and performed in Appearing Nitely. An Academy Award nominee, Tomlin's screen credits include "Nashville" and "I Heart Huckabees." She has appeared in the TV shows "The West Wing" and "Web Therapy" and will reunite with her "9 to 5" co-star Jane Fonda in the Netflix comedy "Grace and Frankie."

The film's producers are Weitz, Andrew Miano, Paris Latsis and Terry Dougas.
