Stage and screen actors Tom Hollander and Diane Lane have joined the cast of the second season of Feud, Variety reports.

The new season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series is set to tell the story of Truman Capote (Hollander) and his tell-all novel Answered Prayers, published posthumously, which documented his experience as confidant to many high-society individuals. Calista Flockhart will also join the duo, along with the previously announced Naomi Watts and Chloë Sevigny.

Lane will play fashionista Nancy "Slim" Keith, Flockhart will play Lee Radziwill (Jackie Kennendy's younger sister), Watts will play ex-Vogue writer Barbara “Babe” Paley (also fictionalized in Murphy's Halston), and Sevigny will play actor-writer C.Z. Guest.

Active in the Broadway community in the 1950s, Capote adapted his 1951 novella, The Grass Harp, into a play of the same name (later spun out into a musical and film), and he wrote the book and lyrics for the 1954 musical House of Flowers. He also published the novella Breakfast at Tiffany's, which went on to be adapted into a musical, stage play, and film, the latter starring Audrey Hepburn. His novel Tru has also been adapted for the stage.

Hollander starred in the original Broadway cast of The Judas Kiss and the 2018 revival of Travesties, which earned him a Tony nod for Best Actor in a Play. Highlights from his screen career include starring as Mr. Collins in the 2005 movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and band manager Jim Beach in the docudrama Bohemian Rhapsody. Most recently, he starred in the HBO series White Lotus, and he is set to return for season two.

Lane portrayed Lyubov Ranevskaya in the 2016 Broadway revival of The Cherry Orchard, after also starring in the 1977 revival. Additional stage credits include Off-Broadway's The Mystery of Love and Sex and the 1977 Broadway revival of Agamemnon. Her screen credits include the 1983 coming-of-age movie The Outsiders, the 2002 thriller Unfaithful—which earned her an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress, and the DC movie Man of Steel.

The second season of Feud was originally set to explore the relationship between Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, with Tony nominee Jon Robin Baitz penning alongside Murphy, however, that script was scrapped in 2018.

The show's first season, Feud: Bette and Joan, follows the rivalry between film stars Bette Davis and Joan Crawford during their time making the 1962 movie What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange respectively played the title roles.

Gus Van Sant will direct the eight-episode season, with Baitz writing and serving as the showrunner. Watts will executive produce in addition to starring. Murphy will executive produce alongside Dede Gardner, Tim Minear, and Alexis Martin Woodall.
