The world premiere of Tim Price's Nye officially opens at London's National Theatre March 6 after beginning previews February 24. The run is set to continue through May 11 in the company's Olivier Theatre. Rufus Norris (Small Island) is at the helm.

Michael Sheen is starring as Aneurin "Nye" Bevan in the work charting the creation of Britain's National Health Service. Described as an "epic Welsh fantasia," the work sees Nye on his deathbed revisiting the events of his life, from a childhood mining underground to fights with Winston Churchill.
Sheen is joined by Remy Beasley, Matthew Bulgo, Dyfan Dwyfor, Roger Evans, Ross Foley, Jon Furlong, Daniel Hawksford, Bea Holland, Stephanie Jacob, Kezrena James, Tony Jayawardena, Michael Keane, Nicholas Khan, Rebecca Killic, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins, Mark Matthews, Rhodri Meilir, Ashley Mejri, Lee Mengo, David Monteith, Mali O’Donnell, Sara Otung, and Sharon Small. Casting is by Alastair Coomer and Chloe Blake.
Norris' creative team includes set designer Vicki Mortimer, costume designer Kinnetia Isidore, lighting designer Paule Constable, co-choreographers Steven Hoggett and Jess Williams, composer Will Stuart, sound designer Donato Wharton, and projection designer Jon Driscoll.
NT Live will broadcast the production in U.K. cinemas April 23, and the production will move to Wales Millennium Centre for performances May 18-June 1. Sheen will reprise his performance.
