Regional News The Legend of Georgia McBride Finds Its West Coast Cast Matthew Lopez’s comedy will be presented in Los Angeles with familiar faces.

Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse has announced the cast for the West Coast premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride. Original New York cast member Matt McGrath will return in the role of Miss Tracy Mills for director Mike Donahue and choreographer Paul McGill, who led the creative team for MCC Theater's 2015 production at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The Legend of Georgia McBride will start previews April 4 and open April 12. The production is set to continue through May 14 at the Gil Cates Theater, located at 10886 Le Conte Avenue, Los Angeles.

The cast also includes Andrew Burnap (This Day Forward), Nija Okoro (The Mountaintop), Larry Powell (Seared), and Nick Searcy (Fried Green Tomatoes).

Lopez’s play tells the story of a struggling Elvis impersonator who trades his life of rock and roll for a drag queen’s platform pumps, discovering his true persona.

The production will have set design by Donyale Werle, costumes by E.B. Brooks, lighting by Josh Epstein, and sound by Jill BC Du Boff. Jill Gold will serve as production stage manager and Julie Renfro as assistant stage manager. Casting is by Phyllis Schuringa, CSA.
