Jay Records will release the original Off-Broadway cast recording of the new musical The Jerusalem Syndrome, The York Theatre Company production that is currently playing Off-Broadway's Theatre at St. Jeans.
The Off-Broadway cast will head to Manhattan Center Studios to record beginning December 1. A digital release is expected in January 2024 with a physical CD arriving in March, according to Jay Records President and Founder John Yap.
The new musical, featuring a book and lyrics by Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman and music by Kyle Rosen, will officially open Off-Broadway November 30. Performances continue through December 31.
The cast includes Farah Alvin (It Shoulda Been You), Dana Costello (Finding Neverland), Scott Cote (The Play That Goes Wrong), Andrea Fleming, James D. Gish (Wicked), Alan H. Green (Charlie & The Chocolate Factory), Danielle Lee James (The Lightning Thief), John Jellison (Come From Away), Josh Lamon (The Prom), Garrett Long (The Music Man), Karen Murphy (The Visit), Jeffrey Schecter (Fiddler on the Roof), Jennifer Smith (Anastasia), Chandler Sinks, Pablo Torres (¡Americano!), Curtis Wiley (Ain’t Too Proud), Lenny Wolpe (The Drowsy Chaperone), and Laura Woyasz (Wicked).
The creative team features director Don Stephenson, music director Miles Plant, choreographer Alex Sanchez, scenic designer James Morgan, lighting designer Rob Denton, costume designer Fan Zhang, sound designer Josh Liebert, and projection designer Caite Hevner. Casting is by Geoff Josselson.
The Jerusalem Syndrome explores the psychological
malady that causes over 200 tourists in Israel annually to suffer mental
breakdowns, believing suddenly that they are characters from the Bible.
