Brittain Ashford, who made her Broadway debut originating the role of Sonya in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, has released her brand-new single "For the First Time," which is featured in the end credits of the upcoming film Shadow Girl. The single marks the film debut for Ashford, who also starred in the Off-Broadway musical Ghost Quartet from Tony-nominated Great Comet composer Dave Malloy.

Listen to the new single below:

Ashford began her career as a singer-songwriter, releasing albums both as a solo artist and with her band Prairie Empire. She was asked by close friend Dave Malloy to join the cast of the original Ars Nova production of The Great Comet, and went on to play the role of Sonya in every iteration of the musical, including its 2016 Broadway premiere.

Shadow Girl, written and directed by Claudia Myers and produced by HIPZEE (the production company of Tara Sickmeier, who produced Heathers: The Musical Off-Broadway), stars Olivia Thirlby as a young woman who has faded to the point of becoming invisible and must find her way back into the world. The film also stars Alan Ritchson and Jim Gaffigan.
