The play marks the producing debut of Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh.

The Fears

The Fears, a new play by Emma Sheanshang, begins its world premiere Off-Broadway at the Pershing Square Signature Center April 26. Playing The Irene Diamond Stage, the production will officially open May 18.

Produced by Oscar- and Emmy-winning director Steven Soderbergh, the play is directed by Dan Algrant, and is guided by five time Tony-winning executive producer John N. Hart Jr. 

Set in a New York City Buddhist Center, a diverse group of people come together in an attempt to heal their personal turmoil. When a new member disrupts the status quo, heated confrontations and deep meditations unfold.

Starring is Maddie Corman (Accidentally Brave, Some Kind of Wonderful, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) as Maia, Kerry Bishé (Argo) as Thea, and Natalie Woolams-Torres (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Rosa. They will be joined by Jess Gabor (The Machine, Shameless) as Katie, Mehran Khaghani (High Maintenance”) as Fiz, Carl Hendrick Louis (1984) as Mark, and Robyn Peterson (Talk Radio, Pretty Woman) as Suzanne.

The creative team includes set designer Jo Winiarski (HYPROV, Accidentally Brave), costume designer David C. Robinson (The Equalizer, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Tony-winning lighting designer Jeff Croiter (Peter and the Starcatcher, Cost of Living), and sound designer Jane Shaw (I Was Most Alive With You, Men on Boats).

The production stage manager is Thom Gates. Casting is by Avy Kaufman and Daniel Franel of Avy Kaufman Casting. Production management is by Sightline Productions. General management is by DR Theatrical Management.
