The Drifters Girl musical, which will play its final performance at London's Garrick Theatre October 15, will launch a U.K. tour September 12, 2023, at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.
The 2023-24 tour of the musical—which tells the story of one of the world's greatest vocal groups and Faye Treadwell, the woman who helped them achieve success—will subsequently play Theatre Royal, Norwich; Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield; Alhambra Theatre, Bradford; Opera House, Manchester; Milton Keynes Theatre, Milton Keynes; Curve Theatre, Leicester; Cliffs Pavilion, Southend; Theatre Royal, Newcastle; New Victoria Theatre, Woking; Orchard Theatre, Dartford; and Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol.
Casting and additional dates will be announced.
The Drifters Girl, with a book by Ed Curtis, is based on an idea by Tina Treadwell, and is co-created by Beverley Knight, Adam J Bernard, Tarinn Callender, Matt Henry, and Tosh Wanogho-Maud. It is directed by Jonathan Church with set design by Anthony Ward, choreography by Karen Bruce, costume design by Fay Fullerton, orchestrations and musical supervision by Chris Egan, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall, and video design by Andrzej Goulding. Casting is by Stuart Burt.
The production features such classics as “Save the Last Dance for Me,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “Kissin' in the Back Row of the Movies,” “Stand By Me,” “Come on Over to My Place,” and “Saturday Night at the Movies.”
