The Barrow Group Theatre Company is set to conclude its 2017–2018 season with a revival of Lee Blessing’s play A Walk in the Woods. K. Lorrel Manning will play American negotiator John Honeyman and Martin Van Treuren will play Russian diplomat Andrey Botvinnik in the two-hander about what it meant to negotiate fundamental differences during the Cold War.
Donna Jean (DJ) Fogel will direct the revival at The Barrow Group Mainstage Theatre, located at 312 West 36th Street. Performances will begin March 17 ahead of a March 26 opening night. The limited engagement is scheduled through April 15.
“A Walk in the Woods is as relevant as ever,” says TBG’s co-artistic director Lee Brock. “In these times of extreme political divisiveness, we need to look closely at how we might navigate the challenges of conflict resolution and find paths to humanizing our perceived enemies. We are thrilled to produce this play with long-time members of The Barrow Group’s artistic community.”
A Walk in the Woods played on Broadway in 1988 with direction by Des McAnuff. Sam Waterston and Robert Prosky starred.
The creative team for A Walk in the Woods also includes Edward T. Morris (set), Kristin Isola (costumes), Elizabeth Mak (lights), and Matt Otto (sound). The production stage manager is Allison Raynes.
