Team Behind 39 Steps to Stage Ben Hur with Real Chariots | Playbill

News Team Behind 39 Steps to Stage Ben Hur with Real Chariots London's Tricycle Theatre will present Ben Hur, a stage adaptation penned by Patrick Barlow, playwright of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning The 39 Steps. The production will boast 3D technology stage combat, a real chariot race and a sea battle featuring real water.

Helmed by Tim Carroll, Barlow's Ben Hur is adapted for the stage from General "Lew" Wallace's novel of the same name. It tells the tale of a Jewish prince who is betrayed and sent into slavery by a friend, only to regain his freedom and seek revenge.

Performances are set to run Nov. 19, 2015-Jan. 9, 2016.

The team behind the production, the Fiery Angel theatre company, is the same behind The 39 Steps, which played an acclaimed Broadway run and continues to be the West End's longest-running comedy, now in its eighth year. A new production recently opened Off-Broadway at the Union Square Theatre.

Barlow's Ben Hur debuted at the Watermill Theatre in the U.K., also garnering critical acclaim.

The Tricycle Theatre is located at 269 Kilburn Rd., London. For more information visit Tricycle.
