The U.K. tour of the new musical The Band will arrive on the West End this holiday season for a December 1–January 12, 2019, run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Presented by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers, and featuring music by the British pop band Take That, The Band premiered at the Manchester Opera House last September.

The new musical about what it’s like to be in a boy band was written by Tim Furth, author of The Girls and the Olivier-winning Our House.

The Band is comprised of AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Yazdan Qafouri Isfahani, Curtis T. Johns, and Sario Watanabe-Soloman, who, as Five to Five, won BBC’s Let It Shine, a reality TV casting show to find performers to star in the show.

The West End run was announced March 19 with a performance featuring cast members from The Band and Take That performing on the roof of the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Also featured in the cast are Rachel Lumberg, Alison Fitzjohn, Jayne McKenna, Faye Christall, Katy Clayton, Rachelle Diedericks, Sarah Kate Howarth, Lauren Jacobs, Martin Miller, and Andy Williams as Dave.

For five 16-year-old friends in 1992, “the band” is everything; 25 years on, we are reunited with the group of friends, now 40-something women, as they try once more to fulfill their dream of meeting their heroes.

The Band is directed by Kim Gavin and Jack Ryder, designed by Jon Bausor, and choreographed by Kim Gavin, with lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, video design by Luke Halls, and sound design by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster.
