The winner of the 1968 Tony for Best Musical will be presented for 11 performances through February 4 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s (entrance on East 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue).

Directed by Gerry McIntrye with music direction by David Hancock Turner, the production features Umoh as Georgina and Reed as Momma with Jennifer Cody (Broadway's Shrek) as Mary, Randy Donaldson (The Scottsboro Boys) as Tap, Bernard Dotson (Chicago) as Tip, Latoya Edwards (Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical) as Chloe, Michael Thomas Holmes (Oklahoma!, York’s Saturday Night) as Hutchinson, and Tally Sessions (War Paint , York’s Yank!) as Harvey.

With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and a book by Arthur Laurents, Hallelujah, Baby! tells the story of Georgina, an African-American woman on her journey to financial and social independence. A chronicle of the African-American struggle for equality during the first half of the 20th century, Hallelujah, Baby! launched the career of Tony winner Leslie Uggams.
