Pennsylvania's Bucks County Playhouse has revealed their 2024 mainstage season, promising the return of their hit Rocky Horror production, a world premiere musical, and some familiar favorites.

That world premiere will be the Sophie Tucker musical Last of the Red Hot Mamas, running June 28-July 27. Directed and choreographed by Shea Sullivan and featuring a book by Susan Ecker, Harrison David Rivers, and Lloyd Ecker, the work explores the life of Sophie Tucker, a full-figured teenager determined to conquer vaudeville, whatever the cost. The work held a private industry reading in NYC last summer.

The season will kick off with Michael Frayn's Noises Off. Hunter Foster will direct the physical comedy farce, following a ground of mediocre actors blundering from a bad dress rehearsal to disastrous performance. The cast will include Jennifer Cody, John Bolton, and Marilu Henner as Belinda. It will play the New Hope venue May 17-June 15.

Following Last of the Red Hot Mamas, Grease will close out the summer, playing August 9-September 8. The longtime theatre favorite will be directed by Foster (who starred as Doody in the musical's 1994 Broadway revival) and choreographed by Shannon Lewis. With a book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, the hit follows Danny and Sandy following a summer romance when they reunite at Rydell High.

Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show will return in time for Halloween, running October 11-November 3. The all-new production directed by Foster and featuring choreography by Lewis premiered at the venue last year with Frankie Grande starring.

The season will conclude with Anastasia: The Musical. Adapted from the beloved children's animation of the same title, it features songs from the film plus new songs by Stephen Flaherty, with a book by Terrence McNally and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. It will play into the new year, running November 22-January 5, 2025.
