Theatre, dates, casting, and creative team will be announced at a later time.
Kevin McCollum of Alchemation and Joshua Andrews of JAS Theatricals, who will produce the fully staged production, said in a statement, "After
the success of the Broadway run and American tour and the incredible
response to the Drury Lane concerts, we are excited to bring the show to
the land of Shakespeare!"
Created by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O'Farrell, and Wayne Kirkpatrick, Something Rotten!
follows the story of Renaissance writers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they
seek to outshine Shakespeare by writing the world’s first musical.
The musical opened on Broadway April 22, 2015, playing 32 previews
and 708 regular performances at the St. James Theatre. The production
earned 10 Tony nominations, including one for Best Musical. Christian
Borle won the Tony for his performance as Shakespeare.
Jason Manford, who played Nick Bottom in the August 2024 concert performances, will perform "It's a Musical" when he presents BBC’s Big Night of Musicals March 22 on BBC1.
