Part of the theatre company's 2016-17 season, performances are scheduled for September 22-November 27, according to kansascity.com. Jones will co-star with her son Patrick Cassidy. The cabaret-style show based on Jones‘ life is written by her oldest son, Shaun Cassidy.
Richard Carrothers, co-owner of the New Theatre, said, “What makes it interesting is that it’s about three specific lives in musical theater.”
Shirley Jones appeared in the Broadway productions of South Pacific, Maggie Flynn and 42nd Street, but is best known for her work on the small and silver screens. She was the matriarch of The Partridge Family and won an Academy Award for her performance in Elmer Gantry.
Patrick Cassidy's Broadway credits include 42nd Street, Aida, Annie Get Your Gun, Leader of the Pack and The Pirates of Penzance. He recently played Joseph in a tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Shaun Cassidy made his Broadway debut in Blood Brothers.
