Additional casting has been revealed for the upcoming production of Shakespeare's The Tempest, set for London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Performances will begin December 7 at the West End theatre, with opening night set for December 19. The first of The Jamie Lloyd Company's season of Shakespeare planned for the venue, the revival will continue through February 1, 2025.
As previously announced, Sigourney Weaver will lead the cast as Prospero. She'll be joined by Jude Akuwudike as Alonso, Jason Barnett as Stephano, Selina Cadell as Gonzalo, Mathew Horne as Trinculo, Mara Huf as Miranda, Forbes Masson as Caliban, Mason Alexander Park as Ariel, James Phoon as Ferdinand, Oliver Ryan as Sebastian, and Tim Steed as Antonio.
The Tempest will be followed by a new staging of Much Ado About Nothing, with Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell leading the cast. Both productions are being directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Lloyd's creative team for Tempest will include set and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer and co-composers Ben and Max Ringham, co-composer Michael 'Mikey J' Asante, movement director Fabian Aloise, music director Giles Deacon, and intimacy coordinator Ingrid Mackinnon.
