Casting is now complete for The New Group's New York premiere of Jessica Goldberg’s Babe, which will begin previews October 29 prior to an official opening November 20 Off-Broadway at The Pershing Square Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater.
Joining previously announced Oscar winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Realistic Joneses, Top Girls) will be Arliss Howard (The Monogamist, A Map of the World, Joe Turner's Come and Gone) and Gracie McGraw (The Death of Desert Rose and Murder at The Gates workshops). Scott Elliott is directing the production, also featuring original music by BETTY.
Babe follows record producers Abby (Tomei) and Gus (Howard), whose work marriage is legendary. But when Katherine (McGraw), a fresh A&R hire, calls Abby out on the compromises she’s made in her work, Abby must face the music and fight to survive.
The upcoming production will also have scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Jessica Paz, production supervision by Five Ohm, and casting by Judy Henderson.
The production stage manager is Valerie A. Peterson. Performances will continue through December 22.
