Not Ready For Prime Time, a new play with music based on the origins of long-running sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, will hold private industry readings December 7 at 3 PM and December 8 at 1 PM.
The fictionalized behind-the-scenes look at the original SNL cast is penned by Erik J. Rodriguez and Charles A. Sothers, directed by Conor Bagley, and presented by Jim Kierstead and Grove House Productions.
The cast features Jordan Kai Burnett as Gilda Radner, Sara Chase as Jane Curtin, Gary-Kayi Fletcher as Garrett Morris, Keri René Fuller as Laraine Newman, Drew Gehling as Chevy Chase, Nate Janis as Bill Murray, Kristian Lugo as Dan Aykroyd, Zack Myers as John Belushi, and John Skelley as Lorne Michaels. Casting is by Stephen DeAngelis.
Not Ready For Prime Time follows nine then-misfit comedians, originally known as the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players," and TV producer and writer Lorne Michaels. Together, they made comedic television history and launched SNL October 11, 1975.
“After premiering this incredible play in Miami nearly two years ago, nothing could make us happier than to introduce it to the city where the story all began 50 years ago," Kierstead says.
The creative team includes music director Xander Rovang, production stage manager Benjamin A. Vigil, and assistant stage manager Alexandrea Hess-Rodriguez.
