Stranger Things and The Whale star Sadie Sink has set a Broadway return in Kimberly Belflower's new play John Proctor Is the Villain. Tony winner Danya Taymor (The Outsiders) will direct the new work, with performances beginning March 20, 2025, at the Booth Theatre. Opening night will be April 14.

The work, a modern reexamination of Arthur Miller's The Crucible set at a rural Georgia high school, was commissioned by The Farm Theater in 2017. Following workshops at Farm Theater and Ojai Playwrights Conference, the play premiered at Centre College in 2018, and has since been produced at Furman University, Rollins College, Washington D.C.'s Studio Theatre, and Boston's Huntington. The upcoming staging will be the play's Broadway debut.

Additional casting, by Taylor Williams, is to be announced. Sink's performance will be her first on Broadway since her time as a child performer in the 2012 revival of Annie and 2015's The Audience.

Taymor's creative team will include scenic designer AMP featuring Teresa Williams, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Palmer Hefferan, projection designer Hannah Wasileski, movement director Tilly Evans-Krueger, and intimacy coordinator Ann James. Gigi Buffington will serve as voice and dialect coach.

Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and John Mara Jr. are producing.
