Theatre fans in the U.K. will be able to see a pro-shot of My Favorite Things: The Rodgers and Hammerstein 80th Anniversary Concert, plus other theatre favorites like Kinky Boots and Titanic: The Musical at 475 cinemas across the U.K. and Ireland with CinemaLive's spring season of musicals.
The live capture of Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre, starring Killian Donnelly, Matt Henry, and Amy Lenox, will arrive in cinemas February 1–4. The hit musical features songs by Grammy- and Tony-winning pop artist Cindy Lauper and a book by Tony-winning playwright Harvey Fierstein.
My Favorite Things: The Rodgers and Hammerstein 80th Anniversary Concert, directed and staged by Christopher Gattelli and featuring a 40-piece orchestra conducted by Simon Lee, will play theatres February 14 and 18. The evening celebrating the legendary Broadway writing duo included performances by Audra McDonald, Marisha Wallace, Daniel Dae Kim, Patrick Wilson, Aaron Tveit, Julian Ovenden, Maria Friedman, Michael Ball, Lucy St. Louis, and Joanna Ampil.
The live capture of Titanic: The Musical's recent U.K. tour (available for streaming in the U.S. via BroadwayHD) will be screened March 7 and 10. Winner of the 1997 Tony Award for Best Musical, the musical featuring a book by Peter Stone and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston embarked on a new tour of the U.K. in March 2023. Thom Southerland, who directed several productions of the hit musical around the world in the past decade, directed the tour. The cast was led by Mark Allanson, Valda Aviks, Grham Bickley, Sam Brown, James Darch, David Delve, Adam Filipe, Alastair Hill, Barnaby Hughes, Niamh Long, Ian McLarnon, Jack North, Billy Roberts, and Bree Smith.
An American in Paris will be available to watch April 18 and 21. The dance musical, featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, a book by Craig Lucas, and choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, stars Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope.
The spring season will close May 16 and 19 with a pro-shot of the West End production of 42nd Street at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The long-established Broadway favorite features a book by Mark Bramble and Michael Stewart and music by Harry Warren. The cast of the West End production includes Bonnie Langford, Tom Lister, Clare Halse, Jasna Ivir, Christopher Howell, Matthew Goodgame, Graeme Henderson, Bruce Montague, Emma Caffrey, Ella Martine, Clare Rickard, and Paul Knight, with Bramble directing.
