Aleshea HarrisOn Sugarland opened March 3 at New York Theatre Workshop. The production, starring KiKi Layne, is scheduled to run through March 20.

On Sugarland follows young Sadie as she calls upon her matriarchal ancestors to help her in her search for the truth about her mother, connecting with them on the historied land that lays beneath a modern-day cul-de-sac.

Choreographer Raja Feather Kelly, scenic designer Adam Rigg, costume designer Qween Jean, lighting designer Amith Chandrashaker, sound designer and co-composer Mikaal Sulaiman, composer Starr Busby, hair and wig designer Earon Nealey, dramaturg Lauren Whitehead, and stage manager Alfredo Macias serve on the creative team. Fight direction is by UnkleDave's Fight-House and casting is by Taylor Williams.
