Sixteen productions will comprise the month-long festival that will run through Oct. 4. Previously announced plays include Wife to James Whelan (through Sept. 26 at the Mint Theater); The Irish… and How They Got That Way (through Sept. 5 at the Irish Repertory Theatre); Absolution (Sept. 8-Oct. 3 at 59E59 Theaters); and Exit-Entrance (Sept. 10-Oct. 3 at 59E59 Theaters).

Newly added works include the world premiere of John Paul Murphy's Prophet of Monto, directed by Des Kennedy at the Flea (Sept. 8-25); and Three Irish Widows Versus the Rest of the World, written and performed by Ed Malone at Stage Left Studio (Sept. 7-Oct. 4).

M. Burke Walker will direct the U.S. premiere of Aidan Matthews' Exit/Entrance at 59E59 Theaters (Sept. 10-Oct. 3); and Dermot Bolger's The Holy Ground will receive its U.S. premiere under the direction of Don Creedon at Manhattan Theatre Source (Sept. 13-25).

Gary Duggan's Trans-Euro Express will be presented at the Irish Arts Center under the direction of Chris Henry (Sept. 15-Oct. 3); Darragh Martin's mixed-media work The Map of Lost Things will play PS 122 (Aug. 16-26); and the world premiere of Belinda McKeon's Graham and Frost will also play PS 122 (Sept. 16-Oct. 3).

Paula McFetridge will direct the site-specific This Is What We Sang at Synagogue for the Arts (beginning Sept. 19); Lestat star Roderick Hill will direct and star in Ron Hutchinson's Rat in the Skull at the Drilling Company Theatre (Sept. 22-Oct. 2); and Don Creedon's Guy Walks Into a Bar will be presented at Ryan's Daughter (Sept. 22-Oct. 2). Deirdre Kinahan's Hue & Cry, directed by David Horan, will play the Irish Repertory Theatre (Sept. 21-Oct. 3); and, finally, Anthony Newfield will direct a staged reading of Beowulf at the American Irish Historical Society (Sept. 27).

A Sept. 25 Irish Theatre Symposium at NYU's Glucksman Ireland House will feature Tony Award-winning The Weird and Beauty Queen of Leenane director Garry Hynes.
