Set to begin previews April 12, towards an April 20 opening, the production marks the Broadway premiere for playwright McDonagh's play, which was previously seen Off-Broadway in 1998 at the Public Theater and in 2008 at the Atlantic Theater. It will play a limited run through July 20.
Radcliffe ("Harry Potter," Equus, How to Succeed...) will repeat his performance as Billy, alongside West End cast members Ingrid Craigie (Kate Osborne), Pádraic Delaney (Babbybobby), Sarah Greene (Helen McCormick), Gillian Hanna (Eileen Osborne), Gary Lilburn (Doctor), Conor MacNeill (Bartley McCormick), Pat Shortt (Johnnypateenmike) and June Watson (Mammy).
According to producers, "Set on the remote island of Inishmaan off the west coast of Ireland, word arrives that a Hollywood film is being made on the neighboring island of Inishmore. The one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy (Radcliffe), if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life. Martin McDonagh's comic masterpiece examines an ordinary coming of age in extraordinary circumstances and confirms his position as one of the most original Irish voices to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century."
The Broadway production is produced by Michael Grandage Company, Arielle Tepper Madover, L.T.D. Productions, Martin McCallum, Stephanie P. McClelland, Stacey Mindich, Starry Night Entertainment, and The Shubert Organization. The production has set and costume design by Tony Award winner Christopher Oram and lighting design by Tony Award winner Paule Constable. Composer and sound designer is Alex Baranowski.
Producers have also announced that over 10,000 tickets throughout the run will be available at $27 to make the production accessible to all audiences.
