Based on Beni Montresor's children's book, the opera — first seen at La Scala two decades ago — will feature direction and choreography by Karole Armitage.
The Witches of Venice tells the story of a boy who magically grows from a plant in the garden of the king. He engages in a series of adventures in his search for his soulmate, a plant girl.
The festival, which also includes master classes, concerts and recitals, will begin May 28, 2016, in Saratoga Springs, NY. It continues through July 17.
Glass will be represented on Broadway later this season – he is penning a score for the 2016 revival of Arthur Miller's classic witch-hunt drama The Crucible.
