This year's Emmy Awards Ceremony may look a bit different, thanks to a potential SAG/AFTRA strike, but the Television Academy opted to announce this year's nominations July 12. A strike decision is expected for July 13.

This year marks the 75th Annual Emmy Awards, honoring the work it takes to create both broadcast and streaming television, as well as television movies.

A number of theatrical figures received nominations for their television work this past season, with several categories featuring multiple theatre actors competing against each other. Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie is split between Daniel Radcliffe for his work on Weird: The Al Yankovic Story; and Michael Shannon, for his work on George and Tammy (his George and Tammy co-star, Jessica Chastain, also netted a Lead Actress nomination). Lead Actor in a Drama Series is even more widely spread, with Pedro Pascal, Brian Cox, and Jeremy Strong all vying for the top spot.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series is split between Christina Applegate for her work on Dead to Me, and Rachel Brosnahan for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category is equally split between Sheryl Lee Ralph for Abbott Elementary, and Hannah Waddingham for Ted Lasso.

Tony winner Martin Short picked up a Lead Actor in a Comedy Series nomination for his work on the theatre favorite series Only Murders in the Building, with movie-musical regular James Marsden receiving a Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nomination for his work on the show Jury Duty

Lastly, current Sweeney Todd star Annaleigh Ashford picked up a nomination for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her work on Welcome to Chippendales, Arian Moayad and Cherry Jones were nominated for their guest appearances on Succession, Nathan Lane received a guest nod for his work on Only Murders in the Building, Pascal received a second nomination of the season for his hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, and Becky Ann Baker received a nod for her guest appearance on Ted Lasso.

Should the SAG/AFTRA strike go through, it is likely that the Emmys will be delayed, but both the Television Academy and FOX, the ceremonies broadcast partner, have opted to wait for an official strike declaration before making a decision. Should a strike be avoided, the ceremony will go forward September 18.
