Broadway diva Patti LuPone braved a sea of cell phones to perform George M. Cohan's classic “Give My Regards to Broadway” May 18 in the latest #Ham4Ham, the weekly series of impromptu mini-concerts on the the steps of the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where Hamilton is playing.
After jokes about cell phones, which LuPone has famously said she hates to see during live performances, Miranda introduced the Tony-winning star of Evita and Gypsy, who then sang the Broadway anthem a cappella. People seemed uncertain during the unfamiliar opening verse, but then cheered when the familiar main melody began.
