Broadway's Paradise Square resumes performances April 19 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The musical's hiatus began with a cancellation of the April 7 performance, which was later extended through April 10 and again through April 15.

Directed by Moisés Kaufman and choreographed by Tony winner Bill T. Jones, the new musical officially opened on Broadway April 3. Read reviews for the production here.

The work takes place during the Civil War and follows a group of Irish immigrants and Black Americans fighting for a similar cause. A forthcoming cast recording was recently announced with an expected release scheduled for May.

The 40-member cast is led by Tony nominee Joaquina Kalukango (Slave Play), Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Tony nominee John Dossett (Gypsy), Matt Bogart (Smokey Joe’s Café), Kevin Dennis (Assassins), Nathaniel Stampley (Porgy & Bess), A.J. Shively (Bright Star), Sidney DuPont (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Gabrielle McClinton (Pippin), and Jacob Fishel (Fiddler on the Roof).

The work was conceived by Black 47 frontman Larry Kirwan. Christina Anderson, Craig Lucas, and Kirwan penned the musical's book to a score with music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Masi Asare, and additional music by Kirwan.
